Fairtrade Label South Africa signs agreement with FLO
On Monday 27 April Fairtrade Label South Africa signed a historical agreement with FLO; the very first Fairtrade Marketing Organisation Agreement ever signed. The agreement allows Fairtrade Label SA to promote and facilitate the use of the international Fairtrade label in South Africa. In addition the revenues from the licence fees will stay in South Africa and will be used to promote Fairtrade locally.
Fairtrade Label SA can now focus on introducing more Fairtrade products on our market working with producers and businesses as well as the retail sector. Consumer awareness campaigns can be expected from next year. Our aim is to increase the sales of Fairtrade certified products so more small farmers and farm workers will benefit.
