"TRADE FOR PEOPLE - Fair Trade your life"

On 13 May, Fair Trade South Africa will host a Fairtrade Coffee and Brunch Break at Parker Cottage Cape Town to celebrate World Fair Trade Day 2011

World Fair Trade Day is an initiative organised by the World Fair Trade Organisation (WFTO) and is recognized by many organisations and individuals globally. The WFTO is a global network of over 400 organisations in 70 producing countries.
World Fair Trade Day 2011 has the theme "TRADE FOR PEOPLE - Fair Trade your world". The theme focuses on advocating trade for sustainable development of local communities as well as asking consumers to include Fair Trade in their shopping bags, local authorities and national governments to include Fair Trade in policies and public procurement, and businesses to include Fair Trade in their office supplies and procurement.

Parker Cottage is also very proud to be associated with Fairtrade Coffee Week.

Says Phil from Parker Cottage, "We only serve African Fair Trade coffee here and very much support the ethos of fair trade in all areas of our guesthouse. Parker is a little different to the usual hotel or guesthouse experience. Rather than being just a conventional 'place to sleep', we offer a very much unplugged, urban retreat. So although we offer free and fast internet, we don't do minibars, televisions, piped music or even reception desks. Parker is a social place, too: our legendary wine evenings occur at least twice a week and there's no 'cut off' time for our gourmet breakfasts either. Come and try us out on your next visit to Cape Town!"
