Did you know that South Africa has produced fair trade goods for over a decade?!

Fair Trade South Africa (FTSA) was established in 2005 and became operative in
2007 in order to provide local stakeholders with a platform for information and
support, and to create awareness amongst the public.

FTSA is the national umbrella organisation for fair trade and embraces all different
fair trade economic sectors.

Our vision is of a strong South African fair trade movement that guarantees social
justice, equity, fairness and sustainable livelihoods for local producers and workers.

Our strategic objectives:

1. To support and strengthen the fair trade movement in South Africa;
2. To facilitate access to national and international markets for fair trade producers;
3. To assist initiatives that support fair trade producers.

What we do:
~ activities to promote fair trade amongst all stakeholders (e.g. networking, conferences);
~ organisation of and participation in local and international events aimed at promoting all South African fair trade products and services;
~ establishing strategic partnerships with local governments, support organisations and educational institutions;
~ providing information to and strategically connecting different stakeholders to bring together all interested parties;
~ fair trade advocacy in the press and in the field.
